HIGHLIGHTS OF MISSOURI

TOP                           I have eliminated the thumbnail photos. Just scroll down the page. This is as large as they get.

Lake of the Ozarks is the largest lake in middle Missouri. This is one of the fingers. The surrounding area is very green and beautiful. It was also very hot and humid. The number one recreation here is water sports.

We toured the inside of this cave on the shore
of Lake of the Ozarks.

Our RV site was right on the Osage River
near Lake of the Ozarks. Ron and Dave did some fishing, but unfortunately, no catching.

From the Lake of the Ozarks, we headed
northeast to Hannibal, Missouri.

This is the boyhood home of Samuel Clemens,
aka Mark Twain.

Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn are two of the
more famous characters in Mark Twain's stories.

The museum highlighted Samuel Clemens' life as a paddlewheel captain on the Mississippi. We viewed a beautiful collection of Norman Rockwell originals.

This cave was discovered in 1890 and used as a source for the Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn.

The inside of the cave was a maze of narrow passages.

The Rockcliffe Mansion sits on the highest point in Hannibal with a view of the town and Mississippi River. Mark Twain spent many evenings here at social events telling his many stories.

We took a dinner cruise on the steamboat

Mark Twain complete with entertainment.

Next stop, St. Louis.
