HIGHLIGHTS OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI

TOP      I have eliminated the thumbnail photos. Just scroll down the page. This is as large as they get.

Our campground was across the river from the Gateway Arch in East St. Louis, Illinois.

One of the first things we did was to ride the elevator inside the arch up to the top. The view was awesome! The elevator was very small. Below the arch, underground, is dedicated to Louis and Clark who opened the gateway to the west. This consisted of a museum and movie theater and the elevators to the top.

How can you visit St. Louis and not take a tour of
Anheuser-Busch, the home of Budweiser beers.
In the visitor center hangs a beautiful portrait of the famous Clydesdale that pulls the beer wagon.

Some of the Clydesdales are housed at the brewery inside of stables that have stained glass windows and crystal chandeliers. It is also very clean.

Unable to take photos inside, I had to be satisfied with photos of graceful, old buildings.
In addition, the grounds and landscaping were immaculate. At the end of the tour,
we took advantage of the tasting room.

One afternoon we drove to this National Ancient Historical Site. This was once the site of a large settlement of
ancient Indians. The mounds are similar to the pyramids of Mexico.

Even though it was late September,
the gardens were still very beautiful.

This photo was taken from our camp site across the river.
Our next stop is Louisville, Kentucky.
