--Finian Maynard smashes the outright world speedsailing record
by averaging 46.82 knots over 500 meters in Saint Marie de la
Mer, France. He used an asymmetric wide-sock sail I
designed for Naish. Also notable were an aerodynamic wetsuit
developed by ProLimit, and a board made by F2. November
13th is a day to remember. The morning started out insanely
windy, and Maynard made a couple runs on his Super Widesock
5.4, but the sail proved too big. Switching over to his
smallest size, a 5.0 Regular Asymmetric Widesock sail
with an all Dacron luff sleeve, Finian survives his way down
the course. With a bit of luck, on a near perfect run, Maynard
shatters the outright world speedsailing record, previously
held by Yellow Page Endeavor. On
November 14th, with the wind increasing further, Maynard suits
up along with his friends at the Masters of Speed Event. As
the wind swings too broad, and too gusty for most competitors,
Maynard again manages to post a run faster than the now smashed
                  YP Endeavors mark. The
new record will become official once it is ratified by the World
                  Speed Sailing Council. (WSSRC) Check
