Today the Makahs still use their large canoes
for sport and hunting. During the annual
Makah Days celebration they hold canoe races in Neah
Bay. In 2002 the race course
for sea-going canoes was extended all the way to Tatoosh Island,
where they had to round this rock which was covered with sea lions.
