Zborowski clan

Samuel Zborowski was a wealthy aristocrat, and palatine during the rule of Henry Valois (1573-75). He killed Jedrzej Wapowski by sword in a duel, and was exiled by the king to Transilvania. Following the demise Henry Valois, a rivalry ensued between the Habsburgs and István Báthory, the king of Transylvania. Samuel initially supported Báthory and returned to Poland with him, where Báthory was elected to the throne and ruled Poland from 1575 to 1586. Samuel became the hetman (commander) of the Nizow Cossacks and defeated the Russian army of the Ivan the Terrible at Wielkoluki. For some reason later he became a supporter of Austrian Archduke Maximilian and turned against Báthory.
