The meeting started with a discussion of the world team tennis get-together with the Kitsap tennis players in Kitsap. All players seemed to enjoy the format.

Sandra Kent tournament results.
Bob and Debra did lots of recruiting of players and as a result we had more than in past tournaments. It generated almost $2000 in profit after $1564 in expenses and $725 in donations. Bob doesn’t think he will run the tournament next year but is willing to help the next director. It was suggested that we raise entrance fees next year.
The Sequim tournament had a profit of $237 and the summer league brought in an additional $340.

Erickson court update:

The city put together a beautiful application folder and sent 6 copies off to the USTA for the 20% national USTA grant. Awards will be announced by Oct 13, 2006. 

A fundraising suggestion was that we get 4 main sponsors who would donate $2500 or more towards court construction and in return would have banners and plaques in their honor. After getting the grant from the USTA it should be easier to get smaller donation from other business’s.

All of the $20600 must be in hand by the end of the year.

Indoor court info.
There is court in the city council for the tennis soccer field house. They decide at the next meeting whether to include it in the final plan and how much the bond issue will be. The YMCA supports the field house idea whole heartedly. Bob wants permission to send a message to club members.

The committee gave him permission.

Fall tennis:

There was discussion as to what format and what day to have tennis on this fall. Those present thought that Saturdays would work better. There was also discussion about having a format that would mix less and more experienced players or perhaps a mentoring and skill improvement program.

The senior games are mid September and the Port Townsend tennis event is Saturday, August 26
