HIGHLIGHTS OF TENNESSEE 2

Welcome to Memphis, Tennessee.

Once again we decided to take a bus tour of the city. And it was because of this that we witnessed the Peabody Ducks come down from their home on the roof of the hotel and walk the red carpet to the fountain in the lobby where they spend the day. It happens every day promptly at 10:00 am. Quite a few people show up for the event. At 4:00 pm they walk back up the red carpet, enter the elevator and go back to the roof.

Memphis is famous as the Home of the Blues and Beale Street. Just like Nashville, Beale Street is lined with entertainment bars. On the weekends, the street is closed to traffic and you can enjoy a night full of fun and music. Beale Street is also famous for Barbeque Ribs. Our bus driver said the Blues Cafe was one of his favorites. We enjoyed dinner there after the tour. A tour of Memphis cannot be made without highlighting where Elvis got his start, Sun Records on Sam Philips Avenue.

Last, but not least, we stopped to visit Graceland, former home of Elvis Presley. While there, we were able to see all of the lower floors (living room, music room, jungle room, kitchen) and the awards he received are now displayed in what used to be a garage. Elvis is buried here along side his mother and twin brother.

The Tom Sawyer RV Park in West Memphis sits
right on the west bank of the Mississippi River.
Here we relaxed in our lawn chairs and watched the barges go up and down ol' man river.

There's lots to see in Tennessee.
Hope you enjoyed the pictures.

More to come.
