We visited the "Attraction" Dodge City and had a drink in the Long Branch Saloon. Both are in Dodge City, KS where we stayed in the Gunsmoke RV Park.

A restored 16-sided barn in Mullinville, Kansas. It was built in 1812.

M.t. liggett created hundreds of bizarre and fanciful statues, many with political statements, and displays them along Hwy 400, just west of mullinville.

Liberal, ks is known as the home of the land of oz. each year they hold an Oz festival and former actors attend. The land of oz is in a large building where they have re-created scenes from the movie. Dorothy's house is also there.

Just west of Dodge, remnants of the Old santa fe trail cross the grasslands. We took a walk along the trail. This is also an area noted for limestone fence posts.

We left Dodge and headed northeast to Wilson Lake State Park near Salina, KS. The guys did a little fishing, but unfortunately, no catching.

In Lucas, KS, Samuel Perry Dinsmoor built his home of Kansas limestone. Around his home he created cement scuptures that made a political statement of the times.

A wonderful art center that displays the unique creativity of many area artists.

These are huge sandstone formations in an area about the size of 2 football fields. There is no other place in the world where there are so many giant concretions. It is a geological wonder and a national natural landmark formed when kansas lay under a great sea.
