We The People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquillity, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish the Constitution for the United States of America.” So agreed the framers of the Constitution in 1787 when they approved its preamble.
Our nation is unique in human history in that it was established, not on the basis of race, religious faith or financial status but on the basic Principles of Liberty, in the name of Peace with Justice. Over the Centuries and especially the last several Decades, these Principles have been twisted to meet the needs and desires of those in Power through the re-interpretation of the Constitution. This Document has not been amended to any significant degree and remains a simple to read document that retains most of the basic Principles established by the Founders. The purpose of government is here outlined to bind us together, provide for our Defense in the name of Peace with Justice, so as to promote the general Welfare and at the same time to secure Liberty for all, forever.
There is a natural disharmony here, but at the same time there is symbiosis. Peace and Justice are different values, as are Welfare and Liberty. Peace and Justice are dependent upon one another and at the same time, Peace can be maximized at the expense of Justice and Justice can be maximized at the expense of Peace. If, in an attempt to maximize Peace, Justice is sacrificed, then widespread dissatisfaction will occur and Peace itself will be endangered. The same goes for the balance between the other values.
Our government is charged by the Constitution with the job of designing a system that strikes a balance. While Defense of our Nation is essential, the general Welfare of the population will be maximized in a society where Liberty, Peace and Justice are in Harmony. That is the purpose of the government of The United States of America. It is the Charge of the Congress to maintain this balance.
I have decided to run for the 6th Congressional Seat from Washington State because I believe that we are out of balance. I understand the complexity of the matter and wish to argue for a return to balance.
