Haiti Philatelic & Revenue Website

The Haiti Philatelic Society

The Haiti Philatelic Society was founded in 1975 and today has approximately 100 members.  Eighty are from the United States, and the rest from Canada, France, Germany, Haiti, England, etc.

Membership in this Society is open to all--from beginner to advanced alike--and costs $15 US per annum (with $8 additional for airmail handling).  If interested in membership please mention this website when you write to:

Mr. Ubaldo del Toro
5709 Marble Archway
Alexandria, VA  22310
U007UBI@aol.com

An application form is also available from the Haiti Philatelic Society website:
www.haitiphilately.org

Membership entitles one to receive the quarterly journal Haiti Philately, to participate in the mail auctions of the Society, etc. These quarterly auctions typically offer in excess of 75 lots, which run the gamut of the common to more difficult stamps, as well as a great deal of postal history and occasionally revenue material.

Haiti Philately is a quarterly journal of the Haiti Philatelic Society.  A typical issue of the journal is 16 pages and includes a lead article and several shorter pieces.  This is the only publication in English of its kind worldwide that is devoted exclusively to the postal history and stamps of Haiti.  A sample copy is available by sending $4 US (or IRC equivalent) to Mr. Ubaldo del Toro.

The contents of the March 2000 issue of "HP" are fairly representative:  articles on Postmarks of the Second Regiment of the US Marines in Haiti, new issues (fauna and Chinese inventions), postal relations between France and Haiti in the 18th century, an auction list, auction news, etc.
