16. Niklaus JUNKER

Christened 28 March, 1830 Anna KOENIG Sex: F Marriage(s): Spouse:Niklaus JUNKER Marriage: 28 Aug 1852 Bern, Bern, Switzerland TheLAWRENCE & THOMPSON'S Grundy County Directory for 1877-78 lists aNicholas Younker living in Felix Township at the Northeast Quarter ofSection 23. This is precisely 2 and 1/2 miles north of Cole City on theeastern edge of the short Pioneer Cemetery and Prairie nature Preserve. It is apparently this same Nicholas Younker who dies in April of 1888according to the Morris Herald. This notice states that Nicholas Younkerlived in the "town of Felix, 2 1/2 miles north of Coal City." This is thesame location as the Nicholas Younker mentioned in the 1877-78 CountyDirectory. We are not sure if he is the husband of Ann or the husband ofJoanna Bordlaw. (another possiblity is that Anna died and Nicholasremarried Joanna, although this leaves the mystery of the diposition ofNicholas and Anna 4 boys). At any rate, there is a string of four noticesin the Morris Herald, beginning with April 27 edition, 1888, announcingthe auction of the material remains of the late Nicholas Younker, in thetown of Felix. The remains that went on sale in Felix on May 7, 1888included: two horses, one colt, sixteen milk cows, one 3-year old steer, sever 2-year olds, seven 1-year olds, three hogs, 2 wagons, one singleseat buggy, one sleigh, one scraper, one cultivator, one eight-toothcultivator, one three-horse drag, 1 plow, 1 Walter A. Wood's mower, 1 hayrake, 1 set of harness, forty chickens, household furniture and oldtrumpery generally. John Peart was the administrator and John Thorson, the auctioneer. Announcement of Probate also occured in the same paper:Estate of Nicholas Younker; John Peart, executor, proof of death filed;widow's relenquishment and bond fild and approved. Ffirst Monday in Juneset as claim day; appraiser, Lemuel short, F. Wilenow, C. Peart.Petition for sale of personal property filed. It is interesting thatmembers of the Peart family are buried both at the Short Pioneer Cemeterynear Younker's property and at the Braceville cemetery south of CoalCity. 17. Anna KOENIG

likely possibility (in harmony with the ship immigration data, and JohnYounker's death certificate, but less likely based on Illinois 1860census data) is: Anna KOENIG Sex: F Event(s): Birth: 21 Dec 1826Rapperswil, Bern, Switzerland Parents: Father: Bendicht KOENIGMother: Maria FELLER For Anna's son Nicholas: Niklaus JUNKER Sex: MEvent(s): Christening: 12 Dec 1852 Rapperswil, Bern, SwitzerlandParents: Father: Niklaus JUNKER Mother: Anna KOENIG For Anna's sonJohn (#1164 on Morman site) Johannes JUNKER Sex: M Event(s):Christening: 5 Aug 1855 Rapperswil, Bern, Switzerland Parents: Father:Niklaus JUNKER Mother: Anna KOENIG Marriage Niklaus JUNKER Sex: MMarriage(s): Spouse: Anna KOENIG Marriage: 28 Aug 1852 Bern, Bern,Switzerlandhttp://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/IGI/individual_record.asp?recid=11900770&ldsnn=6 An Anna Maria Koenig is born 17 May 1829 inMuenchenbuchsee, Bern, Switzerland--an Anna Maria Koenig marries JohannesBachmann in 1850; another marries Johann Rufer in 1853. There is norecord of an Anna Maria Koenig marrying a Junker--hence this Anna isprobably not our Anna Koenig. Father: Benedikt KOENIG Mother: AnnaBarbara ULMANN

18. Louis PFUNDER

Marriage info can be found on LDS site: Ludwig PFUNDER Sex: MMarriage(s): Spouse: Magdalena SOEFFEL Marriage: 9 Aug 1855 St Louis,Missouri Ludwig is the German form of Louis. Louis' name is spelled"Lewis" on his daughter Louise's death certificate, but this wasundoubtedly a phonetic misspelling of the name by the doctor who filledit out. On Louisa and Nicholas Younker's marriage certificate, Louis'name is spelled both "Louis" and "Lewis." 1870 Census for Clark Twsp:Pfunder, Louis 41 Farmer $300 Bauden Magdelina38 Louisa 13 Louis 12 Frederick 11 Henry9 Albert 6 Emil 4 Louis, Fred, andHenry are listed as attending school during the year.
