A Trail

A trail meanders along a shadowed forest floor

Autumn colored leaves rising brightly to the fore

A path’s worn smooth through this corridor in the wild

That began as a passage of an Innocent wayward child

Pausing as we rest on this quest that we’ve been given

Pondering on the outcome of the route that we’ve been driven

The past lies behind on the road that we have traveled

A future lays ahead an enigma to be unraveled

Worn by many footsteps that are leading to an ending

We are walking the unknown in this life we are tending

Do we follow blindly on this journey that we take

Silently following footprints on the path that others make

We take
