The Last Mile

The last mile  arrives to help you descend

A tap to the shoulder as time meets the end

I’ve seen you struggle avoiding this date

Being struck down by time knowing it’s late

there are just a few things I wish you to know

Let me be your shelter as you leave to go

we will tread softly right up to the end

MY  hand I will lend if falter or bend

Before you leave we'll have the last dance

God has been present in this joining of chance

I'll hear those old songs as they warm the air

And know it is me for whom you did care

I trust that your time has been worth the living

My smiles you have felt in your sharing and giving

And in the face of those torrent cold winds

your life has had meaning and merit my friend

You have been the best the finest you could be

The Blessings that were sent from you to me

The efforts you have given were  not spent in vain

The rewards sent forth was worth all the pain

When I look up to the Glory above

I  know you gave heart It was granted with love

May I  say thank you for entering my life

New wisdom you lent in your worry and strife

I’m obliged for all the laughter and tears

lessons that were reaped through out the years

When you gaze  down and see how I've grown

Smile to yourself the seeds that you’ve sown

And when I am feeling your warm fuzzy smile

I'll know you live on and have walked the last mile
