I
Hear
I hear the screams of the souls in hell
Remembering a past where memories dwell
To weak to reach for the light above
Focusing on hate instead of love
Poor me alas I have suffered wrongs
Enduring prejudice singing sad songs
I share my misery with every word I write
Pulling my people into darkness not light
Let us focus on hate and anger out of love
Forget the olive branch and the snow-white dove
The beauty not shared of the ways of old
The wisdom of elders their stories not told
The savior has shared his miserable past
Leading his people as they listen aghast
They gather together a pathetic flock
Pitiful sparrows following the hawk
Affinity and relatedness what is in a word?
All other thoughts not wanting to be heard
I hear the screams of the souls in hell
Standing in line with tales to tell
They do it well
