The Beauty Within

The beauty of a soul that’s lived in the dark

Emerges once more with an embers spark

I’ve seen the radiance of a crooked smile

The lines in a face that has withered the mile

A spirit once lost with a mind that’s been swayed

Paths that’s been crossed and roads that were strayed

How does one wander so far from his soul

Contained by anger that has taken control

I’ve seen and I’ve heard the howl of the wind

The rage of the storm that dwells with no end

Turn back the time where the nightingale wings

Back to the moment where a child softly sings

I’m weathered by time and wish to be blessed

With miles yet to go before I may rest

Smooth out the lines of my withered brow

With an inferno of faith and strength to endow

Retracing the thoughts of an imprisoned mind

Return me to a child again simple and kind

Give way to the light that is shining with in

Old roads less traveled and new wisdom to begin

The link has been broken in this twisted chain

Back to the beginning a new start again
