AGATE:
Bullseye
Agate,
From
Goldfield
Nevada it actually is more Chert and Rhyolite and
has a little bit of a kaolin look to it. Freshly collected material or
at the bottom of the pile material tends to be more yellow unless
oxidized or given some heat treatment -- if I
remember
right it heat treats at a low temp, I think around 425, which is easy
to do in a fire pit. These are rough stones are have some fractures but
they do cut into nice slabs for cabachon and jewelry work.
One
large rock (at least 10 pounds) would make great slabs. One usage I had
not thought of was for knife blade handles. This would be an incredible
stone for that purpose. I would apply a resin to seal and if
there are flaws they can be sealed by Zap-a Dap I am cutting these at the moment and the sizes run from small 2 1/2 inch pieces to a few larger. They will be 10.00 a pound. Two larger slabs or 4-6 smaller ones. |
AGATE: Plume Agate. will have many
slabs of this beautiful specimen. All will be cut to 1/4 inch thickness
and the slab measures 5 inches high by four inches wide. Five
slabs available. The next cuts will be smaller. 10.00 ea.
No flaws that I have found yet. AGATE: Plume Agate. I No flaws that I have found yet. All slabs (slabs only) same for rough rocks can be combined but NOT MIXED. The slabs need to be packaged differently. The best shipping would be flat rate boxes which can easily hold 15 pounds. 12.95 to 15.95 |

AGATE: One slab of this agate
remaining.
No flaws. It is five by five 1/2 inches in size and
the thickness is a
bit thicker than 1/4 of an inch. 10.00 All slabs (slabs only) same for rough rocks can be combined but NOT MIXED. The slabs need to be packaged differently. The best shipping would be flat rate boxes which can easily hold 15 pounds. 12.95 to 15.95 |

Less a slab than a stand. The bottom has been cut to make a beautiful standing specimen. ONE ONLY This is a combination Agate/Japser/Rhyolite mixed in with fossilized fresh water snail fossils. No flaws and it weighs 1 and a half lpounds. It is over 3/4 of an inch thick and could be cut into 3 slabs. The first would be as you see it -- some five inches of useable length. The other two cuts would be smaller. Four inches and 3.5 inches as the back is cut at a slant. This has been polished to about 600 grit on both sides and I use it as a display rock, as the bottom is cut so it stands. All slabs (slabs only) same for rough rocks can be combined but NOT MIXED. The slabs need to be packaged differently. The best shipping would be flat rate boxes which can easily hold 15 pounds. 12.95 to 15.95 |

Another mixed Agate.
This is huge and heavy. Weighs nearly four pounds and is one inch
thick. No polishing has been done and as you can see one edge needs
grinding down. Best use would be for a stand or natural mount for some
artistic display -- driftwood or whatever. It measures some 6.5 inches
by seven. It could also be cut into four thinner slabs. All slabs (slabs only) same for rough rocks can be combined but NOT MIXED. The slabs need to be packaged differently. The best shipping would be flat rate boxes which can easily hold 15 pounds. 12.95 to 15.95 It could also be cut into four thinner slabs. 40.00 |

Knife Scale cuts.
Or? This is a thick slabe and MIGHT be cuttable into two slices.
Useable material is 5.5 inches by 2 inches wide. It weighs 1/2 pound. 6.00 |

This
second piece would give you many slabs as it is 1 1/8 inch wide by some
1 1/2 to 1" thick. Would provide four nice slabs for Knife Scales. 10.00 |

Howelite
Nodule- Turquoise Impostor Soft white bumpy aggregations. Scratches with Obsidian (glass) but not with a copper penny. Mohs 5? This Howlite was was collected on the West coast, most likely Ticks Canyon, CA. Howlite is usually dyed because white howlite receives very little attention in the marketplace. Most people think that it is boring. However, when it is dyed to a brilliant or pastel blue, green, red, yellow or purple it catches people’s eyes. Hence the name "Turquoise Imposter." These cuts are unusual in having a yellow blotch. Most will be pure white. Please let me know your preference. Four smaller slabs. Parent rock is here. All slabs (slabs only) same for rough rocks can be combined but NOT MIXED. The slabs need to be packaged differently. The best shipping would be flat rate boxes which can easily hold 15 pounds. 12.95 to 15.95 |
Jasper:
Washington Red Jasper. This is a nice large piece of
locally collected Jasper. I am presently cutting them and will have six
to offer of this size range. About 6 by 3 inches and 1/4 inch thick.
There are no faults and the color is a rich red. 6 available A

Mahogany
Obsidian
I have a large collection of obsidian. The best way to
ship rocks is
with USPS Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Box (11" x 8.5" x
5.5")
Some are of lapidary quality and can be used for napping, cabbing or
any other lapidary purpose. If napping is your priority let
me
know and I will select accordingly. I have Mahogany, Jet Black, some
Sheen and other Oregon obsidian. Prices will vary
and I have dozens of slabs to choose from, so let me have an idea of
your needs. I will be selling a one pound lot. Today I cut some more
Mahogany slabs that are very beautiful and somewhat longer. I also cut
some lovely goldsheen Obsidian. Much higher priced. No pictures yet. I just added a picture of two slabs that I really liked. They are some 4.5 by 2.5 in size or WERE! Photographing them I dropped one on the concrete. Not to worry, I will be cutting more. As for weight -- the unbroken one weighs about 1/4 a lb. Please note that I do photograph my slabs WET so they more resemble the finished polished character. These are basically just off the saw blade. All slabs (slabs only) same for rough rocks can be combined but NOT MIXED. The slabs need to be packaged differently. The best shipping would be flat rate boxes which can easily hold 15 pounds. 12.95 to 15.95 |

Mixed
slabs
I have many different slabs and most of them are about 1/2 a lb. I will
therefore offer a mixed grouping that will include petrified wood,
agate, mahogany, jasper and more. The price is for one pound. All slabs (slabs only) same for rough rocks can be combined but NOT MIXED. The slabs need to be packaged differently. The best shipping would be flat rate boxes which can easily hold 15 pounds. 12.95 to 15.95. |

Petrified Wood
This is a large piece of Oregon or Washington collected material. I am
presently cutting the large slab and should havethree nice pieces 1/4
or larger thick. Size will be at the largest -five by 4 1/2 going
eventually going down
to 4 1/2 by 3 1/2 useable size material. Each piece will be
15.00 ea. OR -- you can buy the slab as is 1" thick and use it as a base for mounting drifwood or such. 30.00. It weighs 2 lbs. and 2 oz. |
|
Travertine but a harder form. Apricot
color slabs with druzi inclusions. I have two of these and the following cuts will
be smaller. Size is 7 inches by 3. Two are available.
Two smaller ones are available as well. 3 by 2 1/2 and
a long narrow piece . The parent rock is
also available it is 7.5 by 4 inches and I intend to cut the bottom off
and make it a standing display piece. Near five lbs. it would make at
least six large slabs and a few smaller ones. Accordingly it is priced
at 39.00

Turtle rock.
The
matrix is a sandstone or mudstone 3.5 to 4 hardness andt polish better
than one would expect. The spots are more than likely a type
of
feldspar. The lumps are 5.5 to 6 hardness. The two
different materials will polish differently as well. These "stone
turtles" evolved from the northern shores of the Olympic Peninsuala in
WA state.Even with polishing there is an inherent matte finish to these
stones but covering them with a lacquer finish works quite nicely.
Trying to tumble or using a grinding wheel will wear away
their
intriquing "bumps and contours." If slabbed for cabachons they
certainly can be worked the normal way and make surprisingly nice
jewelry. 5.00
and 2.50 a slab depending upon the size. I will be cutting
some this week. The largest one shown will be about a 4"
by 4"slab. The matrix may upon occassion be darker, even brown and the inclusions can sometimes be yellow instead of white. As they are one in a thousand I will not be selling any of those. "Turtle Rock" is Variolite. |
